Re: The importance of attending a show |
What? I'm agreeing with Cliff himself that he wasted his time money and youth. If I did that I would hate myself.
My point is, I enjoyed the shows I saw. Nope they are mostly NOT the best ones, but it the ones I got! They where so much fun that even thou I missed the band peak, I personally think you'd be a fool not keep those memories special.
I said that in that post! Is it that obtuse? Sorry....
IMHO you would have to "mentally challenged" not to realize that seeing the GD was a gift and a special thing. If you did not see nay shows, that is o.k also, just too bad.
I will never understand the folks , like Cliff, who kept going back but don't have any good things or memories about the shows they where luck enough to see! That's INSANE!
If Cliff wrote, you'd have to be retarded not to understand just haw bitchin 68' was, I guess I'd agree. Still I thinks he is hung up on a few shows...... Generally an o.k. guy but a bit of a one trick pony.
"retarded" is tame term round here. Mellow out man!

I don't want to kick a dead horse, but if you think "retarded" is okay, what next--I suppose the "N" word is okay by you too? C'mon...you are defn better than that...it's not that the word bothers me one bit in the literal sense--you are probably right that by saying I may not have enjoyed a show I saw in 78 as much as the one I missed in 68 I am "insane", then fine...but this says a lot more about you, than me, as does use of the word "retarded"...that's all I am getting at.

Re: The importance of attending a show |
Oh common, I used it once! For heaven sakes, I'm stating to have more respect for challenged people than dead heads....
If you want to be a "Self appointed" Steve Parish, go round the site and tell your regular buddies to clean it up because they are gorse. (or don't)
Don't do it for me, do it for your mom.
Honestly do you completely lack common sense? What in your life make you feel like you have to be the regulator?
I not gonna give you a hard time about what shows you like better...
but here are other factors.
-you where 10 years younger in 68
-life in general was more exiting in 68 than in 78... the time where a changing!
Sounds like you are pretty subdued guy to start with, add to that 10 long years and I don't see you having fun at a dead show. Time for you stop going. That does not mean there was no fun to be had..
This is more elegant than my own words...
by Robert Zimmerman...
You walk into the room with your pencil in your hand
You see somebody naked and you say 'Who is that man?'
You try so hard but you don't understand
just what you will say when you get home
because something is happening here but you don't know what it is
do you, Mr. Jones?

Re: The importance of attending a show |
Regulator has nothing to do with it; I could careless what others think about what you say here, and I am sure you could as well, and frankly--they probably aren't reading anything the two of us are going back and forth about. All I am getting at is that the use of a word like that indicates to me a person I would normally have little in common with, nor much interest in conversing with about much of anything...I may have gotten it wrong, you may have made a mistake, I may be an uptight dickhead, but that's all it was about...no different than how you'd react, I assume, if I'd used the N word...you'd just walk away saying to yourself, "no frickin way I wanna hear anything else this dolt has to offer" or some such. If you were African American, or had a child with severe congenital brain dysfunction, or whatever example one might select, I can only assume it would be as bothersome to you as well. Otherwise, you're right--no biggie, free speech and all that...go for it if you like, just don't expect that I'd be happy with it...sorry it took so many words to convey what I thought was pretty simple. My bad.

Hey WT, Upon very close inspection, I understand why you could take offense to the word.
I offer you this!
Honest sorry. I used the "r" word immaturely and won't anymore. Got it! Thanks for getting me to think about that.
Sincerely!

Re: The importance of attending a show |
My earlier post... before I re-read your post carefully... Still leave some as is...has some points about what offended me.
I was reacting to the lack of intelligence (and common sense), such as when somebody thinks Zappa was into child rape... it's an inanely stupid accusation. They call for censorship...now that's a threat! If we to start censoring songs we will loose many GD songs, and that ain't gonna happen while I'm round! But you know I can't teach em want they missed in school...however I don't have to just ignore every ignorant act that happens either...
Any other words are a non starters hombre! Let get some sleep and listen to some tunes tomorrow, K
